Immersive Floral Installation
“Not Nothing” debuted at Detroit-based photographer Chris Gerard’s 2019 solo show “Photos of Nothing”, curated by Knebel. “Not Nothing” is an immersive avant-garde photo installation featuring Gerard’s botanical prints on transparancy paper strung throughout a bathroom, complimented by Madalyn’s three dimensional botanical sculptures encased within bathroom fixtures, and tied together with whimsical lighting.
This piece was an exploration in utilizing a bathroom for showcasing art & proved one can transport viewers from a traditionally sterile space to a secret garden. Guests entered a mysterious room via pink velvet curtains to discover a candy hued room complete with astro turf, beckoning guests to take a seat and take in the sights.
Knebel & Gerard plan to expand this work and would love to bring it to your event or gallery — please contact Madalyn utilizing the contact form.
